About jBidwatcher App for MAC
jBidWatcher is a Java-based application allowing you to monitor auctions you’re not part of, submit bids, snipe (bid at the last moment), and otherwise track your auction-site experience. It includes adult-auction management, MANY currencies (yen, pound, dollar [US, Canada, Australian, and New Taiwanese], Swiss Francs, and euro, presently), drag-and-drop of auction URLs, a unique and powerful ‘multisniping’ feature, a relatively nice UI, and is known to work cleanly under Linux, Windows, Solaris, and Mac OS X from the same binary.
Currently it is only implemented for eBay, but it is abstracted suitably to work with any online auction site with a minimum of changes.
It is under active development. Bug reports and feature requests are always welcome, as are praise and complaints.
New Features
Version 2.99pre5:
New
- ‘Cancel snipe’ wasn’t working. bad
- Deleting an entry was double-deleting, which was throwing an exception because the second would fail.
- If the user has configured a browser and forced it to override the auto-detected one, use it.
- Various dialogs (including ‘Add’) weren’t quite fitting on Windows and Linux.
- Give a nicer error if trying to use a version of OS X prior to 10.8.
- Try to mitigate the awful in-place upgrade problem where OS X caches the launch information incorrectly.
- Speed up apparent startup time by moving some script loads until after the UI has initialized.
- Fix a long-standing bug that JBidwatcher would lose DNS information for ebay.
- First pass at a better Linux deployment target.

You don’t have to put your programs in the Applications folder, though: they’ll run from anywhere. Some people create a “Games” directory, to keep games separate from other applications. But Applications is the most convenient place to put things, so we suggest you just put everything there.
DMG files are mounted by your system, like a sort of virtual hard drive. When you’re done installing the application, it’s a good idea to unmount the DMG in Finder.
