About FileBrowse App for MAC
FileBrowse is a unique file/media browser for Mac OS X, with many interesting features that the Finder is lacking, such as:
- Thumbnails for most common file types, such as images, movies, songs, PDF/RTF/Word documents, and even Web pages. Finding a file by visual content has never been easier.
- Beautiful 3D icons/thumbnails, rendered in real-time using OpenGL, with lifelike, soft shadows and perfect anti-aliasing (no jagged edges).
- Folder icons that show miniature icons/thumbnails of the items inside, so you don\’t always have to open a folder to see its contents.
- Large previews for most common file types, shown in-context (between the icons). This is much faster than having to open a file in a separate application.
- Powerful grouping and sorting, by kind, date, color label, artist, album, camera, and many other attributes. Groups can be easily \”collapsed\”/stacked and in many cases can replace folders.

New Features
Version 1.2:
- Button symbols are now more consistent with Apple’s symbols. Most notably: triangles instead of arrows for navigation.
- This version is faster and more responsive.
- This version can optionally show icons with a different 3D perspective. By default, FileBrowse shows all 3D icons with a shared perspective, with the vanishing point in the center of the screen (resulting in icons that change visually according to their positions on the screen). This of course differs from Finder icons, which all have their own perspective (because they’re just images). To better match other Mac apps visually, you can now choose to view icons without the shared perspective (by selecting Item Perspective from the View menu).
- The folder icon in the upper-left corner can now also be pulled and dragged, like other icons.
- Command-Left Arrow and Command-Right Arrow can now also be used to Go Back and Forward.
- You can now Shift-select with the arrow keys.
- A right-click or Control-click on an icon will select it with the preview hidden. (Info and commands are still shown, so this works similar to a right-/Control-click showing a contextual menu.)
- Dragging a file/folder icon from the Finder to the FileBrowse (dock) icon will now open a new window (instead of navigating inside the same window).
- Bug fixes, small cosmetic changes and various other small modifications.
Installing Apps on MAC
Most Mac OS applications downloaded from outside the App Store come inside a DMG file. Like if you wanna download FileBrowse for mac from this page, you’ll directly get the .dmg installation file into your MAC.
- First, download the FileBrowse .dmg installation file from the official link on above
- Double-click the DMG file to open it, and you’ll see a Finder window.
- Often these will include the application itself, some form of arrow, and a shortcut to the Applications folder.
- Simply drag the application’s icon to your Applications folder
- And you’re done: the FileBrowse is now installed.
- When you’re done installing: just click the “Eject” arrow.
- Then you can feel free to delete the original DMG file: you don’t need it anymore.
- Now, enjoy FileBrowse for MAC !
You don’t have to put your programs in the Applications folder, though: they’ll run from anywhere. Some people create a “Games” directory, to keep games separate from other applications. But Applications is the most convenient place to put things, so we suggest you just put everything there.
DMG files are mounted by your system, like a sort of virtual hard drive. When you’re done installing the application, it’s a good idea to unmount the DMG in Finder.
