About Virtual DVDs App for MAC
Virtual DVDs… I was sick and tired of ripping my DVDs to my computer, and then to watch it I would have to open up DVD Player and browse the system to find the “VIDEO_TS” folder. This app creates “Virtual DVDs” for you that can be double-clicked and viewed in DVD Player without browsing for the folder.
After ripping your DVD, just rename the folder (the containing folder, not the VIDEO_TS folder) by adding a “.vdvd” at the end. This turns the folder into a file package (the icon will change). Now, just double click on it and Virtual DVDs will do the rest (the process is invisible to you).
Basically, Virtual DVDs is an app that adds a new extension to your system (.vdvd).
Now you can view these in Front Row!
New Features
Version 3.0.1 has the Virtual DVD Library interface removed in place of a more simple add/remove locations.
Version 2.0.6 can now act like version 1.0.2!!! Check out the ReadMe in the download for more.
Version 2.0.5:
Okay, now added support for multiple external drives. Now only symbolic links of your Virtual DVDs will be placed in your Virtual DVD Library. The original stays where it is. This prevents the need to create a symbolic link of just your Library. However, if an original is moved from it’s location, it is wiped from the Library (not deleted).
Version 2.0.4 users, should re-build their Library by removing the link and gathering originals where you want them.
Now multiple DVD support, so you can now add as many Virtual DVDs to your Library as you want (just select them and double-click or “Command”+”O”).
Removed the “image cell” containing an icon of a DVD from the interface. It was causing the app to hang up. Will be brought back in version 3.0.
The remove button only removes the link from the Library. If there are originals not links in your Library, then the originals will be moved to a folder on your desktop called “Removed Virtual DVDs”.
Search function to narrow down your Virtual DVD Library by name.
Note: DO NOT USE the “Virtual DVDs” folder in your Movies folder. It is for Front Row only and manually putting any file in there will result in permanent loss of that file.
