About Phoenix Firestorm Viewer App for MAC
First, what is the Phoenix Firestorm Viewer all about? Firestorm is the next generation viewer for Second Life produced by us; it is based off of Linden Lab’s V3 code base but with a focus on making it V1 familiar. It’s focus is to provide you with a smaller learning curve and an easier transition from V1 to V2. However, while that has been our focus it is important to mention that it still does have a learning curve, it is not exactly the same as V1 or the Phoenix Viewer. Because of this we have gone to great lengths to provide you with tutorial videos and extensive documentation which we HIGHLY encourage you to have a look at. It will take some getting used to, but if you give it a chance you’ll find it will quickly feel very comfortable for full time use.

New Features
Version 6.4.12.62831:
- Open Group Chat button from group notice
- Preferences – Graphics – Hardware Settings – Dynamic Texture Memory – Works only on 64bit viewers with at least 512mb VRAM and GPUs supporting either atimeminfo or nxmeminfo vendor-specific OpenGL extensions. Will allow using all currently available VRAM, or at least the value specified in minimum viewer texture memory capped at physical VRAM, minus VRAM reserve for allocating textures. That value minus cache reserve is the texture memory available for textures actually rendered. Hover mouse over settings for tooltips for additional explanations.
- Preferences – Graphics – Rendering – Occlude objects for water distortion map. If allowed, object occlusion will be restored for generation of the water distortion maps. Visuals are more correct without occlusion, but this can have a significant impact on rendering performance.
- Mesh Uploader – See Second Life Release Notes below.
