About WifiSmtp App for MAC
WifiSmtp grabs SMTP server info while you’re using AirPort.
Don’t you hate it when you are connected to a WiFi hotspot but you can’t send e-mails because the ISP prevents you from using any other SMTP server than its own (and you usually don’t know its address) ?
WifiSmtp tells you:
- the name of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) you are connected to
- the address of that ISP’s mail server (SMTP)
- the connection speed (available bandwidth)
It can also:
- copy the address of the SMTP server to the clipboard (so that you can paste it into you favorite e-mail software)
- regularly check the connection status
WifiSMTP can now identify ISPs in France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the U.K., the Czech Republic, Latvia, Sweden, Portugal, Israel, Marocco, Russia, Canada, USA, Brazil, Colombia, New-Caledonia, Malaysia and Japan.

New Features
Version 1.1.1:
- Changed URL of database update file
- Updated the local database (inside the application package)
- Made the e-mail reports (uknown or incorrect ISP) a little clearer and added some debugging information
- Known bugs:
- An error -1762 (that you can safely ignore) can randomly appear
- ISP identification in South America and Africa barely works, or not at all. Informations that can be obtained from an IP address is not delivered in the same format as for other continents. A future version of WifiSMTP will support that format.
Note: if you have submitted information on an ISP and WifiSmtp still reports it as “unknown” it simply means that I haven’t had time to update the database. Same thing if your name is not yet in the ReadMe. Check for updates regularly using the update button in WifiSmtp.
Installing Apps on MAC
Most Mac OS applications downloaded from outside the App Store come inside a DMG file. Like if you wanna download WifiSmtp for mac from this page, you’ll directly get the .dmg installation file into your MAC.
- First, download the WifiSmtp .dmg installation file from the official link on above
- Double-click the DMG file to open it, and you’ll see a Finder window.
- Often these will include the application itself, some form of arrow, and a shortcut to the Applications folder.
- Simply drag the application’s icon to your Applications folder
- And you’re done: the WifiSmtp is now installed.
- When you’re done installing: just click the “Eject” arrow.
- Then you can feel free to delete the original DMG file: you don’t need it anymore.

You don’t have to put your programs in the Applications folder, though: they’ll run from anywhere. Some people create a “Games” directory, to keep games separate from other applications. But Applications is the most convenient place to put things, so we suggest you just put everything there.
DMG files are mounted by your system, like a sort of virtual hard drive. When you’re done installing the application, it’s a good idea to unmount the DMG in Finder.
